Combating Human Trafficking in Global Research Policy

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is committed to combatting Human Trafficking. Federal law mandates that federal contractors and subcontractors maintain an anti-trafficking compliance program to qualify for certain federal funds and grants. This policy establishes a compliance plan and reporting requirements that meet federal standards.

Export Controls Policy

While the purpose of research, scholarship, and education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is to ultimately share information and new knowledge, there are times when access to certain items, information, or laboratory spaces should be restricted for confidentiality, export compliance, national security, safety, and/or other security reasons. To that end, this policy establishes a framework for identifying export-controlled items, information, and research spaces.

Research Security Training Standard

The standard requires individuals involved in federally funded research at UNC‑Chapel Hill to complete annual Research Security Training, including before proposal submission, to meet federal requirements. It outlines who must be trained, how training is administered and tracked, and the compliance expectations for ensuring adherence to federal research security regulations.

Science and Security Policy

UNC-Chapel Hill is committed to protecting the integrity of its programs and activities and ensuring compliance with all applicable legal requirements and federal, sponsor, and University requirements, policies, standards, and procedures related to science and security, including research security (“Applicable Requirements”). This policy establishes the standards and structures necessary to safeguard University activities and maintain compliance.
