Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures

The purpose of this document is 1) to set forth procedures by which the chair of the Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages (GSLL) discharges certain of these duties and 2) to indicate the manner of faculty consultation appropriate to certain actions.

This document outlines the standards and procedures governing faculty personnel actions — including appointments, reappointments, promotions, and tenure decisions — for the Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It covers expectations for research, teaching, and service for both tenure-track/tenured faculty and fixed-term teaching track faculty.
