The principal aims of the Department of Economics are to preserve, increase, and transmit knowledge and understanding of Economics. In hiring, reappointing and promoting fixed-term faculty, the Department seeks to maintain its high standards of scholarship and teaching. It also encourages service to the Department, the University, the professional community, the state, the nation and the world; as appropriate, it also encourages engagement with groups outside academia.
