Introduction

Purpose

The purpose of this Policy is to provide general guidelines and expectations for the conduct of Department of Dermatology Resident Cosmetic Clinics.

Scope

This Policy applies to Department employees, residents and faculty involved in the scheduling and conduct of resident cosmetic clinics.

Policy

Policy Statement

The conduct of resident cosmetic educations sessions are an effective means for residents to obtain experience and training in cosmetic procedures. The Department of Dermatology is committed to the provision of consistent guidelines and requirements for resident cosmetic education sessions to ensure patient safety and successful resident training.

General Guidelines

  1. Any desired/proposed sessions must be approved by the Cosmetic Curriculum Committee before scheduling and must have an identified faculty supervisor.

  2. All sessions must formally be scheduled. A supervising attending physician must be present for every encounter.

Definitions 

Cosmetic Curriculum Committee - Internal department committee, comprised of faculty members, dedicated to creating the curriculum for Cosmetic clinics.
