Department of Orthopaedics: Policy on Faculty Meeting Attendance

Unit Policy

Title

Department of Orthopaedics: Policy on Faculty Meeting Attendance

Introduction

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to define the Faculty Meeting Attendance requirements.

Scope

This policy applies to all Department of Orthopaedics faculty.

Policy

Policy Statement

Faculty members must demonstrate good citizenship by attending at least 60% of regularly scheduled meetings, which include the following:

  • Monthly Faculty Meeting
  • Grand Rounds / M&M Conference

Faculty members may request an exemption from the policy for a mission-critical commitment that conflicts with these meetings. For non-surgical faculty, the department will accept attendance at another pre-approved educational meeting if pre-approved by the chair.

The department will take attendance at regularly scheduled meetings in the following manner:

Faculty Meeting Attendance

The Executive Assistant will track faculty meeting attendance or whoever is taking minutes. Attendance will be monitored on a spreadsheet stored at J;/Chairs Office/Faculty Meetings/.

Grand Rounds/M&M Conference

The department will track Grand Rounds’ attendance using a Qualtrics online survey. The Education Coordinator will provide a unique link at the end of each Grand Rounds session, and faculty will register attendance by following the link to the survey.

Survey data will be collated and stored in a spreadsheet located at J:/Chairs Office/Faculty Meetings/Grand Rounds.

Exceptions

Exemptions should be requested from the Department Chair in writing, stating the reason for the exemption and expected duration. For alternative education sessions, the method of recording attendance should be noted, and records should be sent to the Education Coordinator monthly.
