1104 - EHRA Employee Payroll Actions Policy

Introduction

Purpose

This policy establishes Connect Carolina HR/Payroll as the official University system for processing EHRA and SHRA employee information. Maintaining records online allows for speedier, more accurate records while maintaining proper University business standards. It also replaces paper forms, streamlining the entire employment process.

Scope of Applicability

This policy applies to all employees paid by the University and administrative units processing employee compensation.

Policy

Policy Statement

All payroll actions for University EHRA employees (exempt from the State Personnel Act) will be initiated and processed online through ConnectCarolina HR/Payroll by the designated Human Resources Representative for each department. Each area has an approver that must audit and approve data before the form is sent to Payroll to be processed.

Payroll actions are any actions that create or update the master file for each employee, as well as demographic changes and salary source changes.

No employee may approve personnel actions of which that employee is the affected subject.

All proposed personnel actions must be completely approved prior to interfacing with the payroll system. The University provides additional compensation for certain permanent employees whose work schedules require or request the employee to work at unusual times and/or under special circumstances.

University employees on loan to other State agencies or institutions are paid through Payroll Services using the form for Dual Employment Certification.
