Title
Offices of Medical Student Education: Policy on Translational Education at Carolina (TEC) 2.0 Competencies and Milestones
Introduction
Purpose
To establish the Competencies and Milestones for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ("University") School of Medicine's (SOM) Medical Doctorate (MD) degree program's TEC 2.0 curriculum.
Scope
This Policy applies to all MD degree program students ("Students") and evaluators in the TEC 2.0 curriculum.
Policy
Policy Statement
The MD degree program is a rigorous course of study focused on ensuring that its Students attain the knowledge and skills expected of practicing physicians. In furtherance of this goal, the SOM has established Competencies to be achieved by its Students through Milestones and has designed and implemented the TEC 2.0 curriculum to enable Students to achieve those Competencies and Milestones. The TEC 2.0 Competencies and Milestones are detailed in Appendix A.
Definitions
- Competency: An observable, measurable ability of a medical professional or trainee.
- Milestone: Specific, observable, and developmental narratives of knowledge, skills, attitudes, or behaviors.
