Department of Dermatology: Policy on Discharging or Formally Warning an Abusive Patient
Introduction
Purpose
This Policy ensures that abusive and disruptive patients are managed appropriately for the safety and well-being of patients, staff and faculty.
Scope
This Policy applies to all faculty, staff and residents, and includes both School of Medicine (SOM) and UNC Health Care System (UNCHCS) students and employees.

Policy Statement
Patients who demonstrate abusive and disruptive behavior will be managed through a series of steps and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone who visits Department of Dermatology facilities or contacts the facilities via phone.
