This Procedure provides the requirements and guidelines for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (University) School of Medicine’s (SOM) Medical Doctorate Program in the assignment of students to clinical learning sites/campuses for the Application Phase. By implementing specific steps during this process, the SOM can ensure that students are appropriately assigned to clinical learning sites/campuses to obtain the clinical experience required by their curriculums.
This Policy establishes the mechanisms by which students request assignment and are assigned to clinical learning sites/campuses in their Application Phase to one of the 6 clinical learning sites/campuses.
Every two years after completion of the initial T&E Accountholder training, T&E accountholders must complete mandatory online refresher training. The training covers applicable restrictions, policies and reconciliation procedures. Accountholders are also required to pass an associated quiz.

Safety training required by the UNC Nephropathology Laboratory is offered through online study programs available to University and Hospital employees involved with clinical and/or non-clinical (research) activities. These programs offer information about safe working practices and provide an orientation to University and Hospital policies, and state and federal regulations. Safety training will be offered to employees based upon job duties.
