Eshelman School of Pharmacy: PharmD Graduate Certificate Eligibility Criteria Policy
Introduction
Purpose
This policy defines the academic, experiential, conduct, and enrollment requirements PharmD students must meet to apply for and remain enrolled in a Graduate Certificate program. It also clarifies limits on combining certificate programs with dual-degree programs and outlines the process for requesting exceptions.
Scope
This policy applies to PharmD students at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy who are applying to, enrolled in, or seeking to remain eligible for a Graduate Certificate program.
Policy
To be eligible to apply for and remain enrolled in a Graduate Certificate program, students must meet the following criteria:
- ESOP cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher at the time of application and maintain a GPA of 2.50 or higher each semester while enrolled in the certificate program.
- Successful completion of all prior immersion experiences at the time of application and during enrollment in the certificate program.
- Must not be on academic or non-academic probation at the time of application or during enrollment in the certificate program.
- Must not have been found in violation of the University Honor Code or Student Code of Conduct at the time of application or during enrollment in the certificate program.
Eligibility criteria will be reviewed at the end of each semester. Students who do not meet the academic, experiential, or conduct-related criteria at any checkpoint will be subject to removal from the Graduate Certificate program.
Students may only complete one Certificate program during the PharmD curriculum. Students are not permitted to complete both a Certificate and a dual-degree program. Students who begin a Certificate program and later apply to and are accepted into a dual-degree program will be required to choose between continuing in the certificate or pursuing the dual-degree.
Students may participate in a Graduate Certificate program in combination with the Research and Scholarship in Pharmacy (RASP) program.
Exceptions
Any request for an exception to the above criteria must be submitted in writing to the Assistant Dean for PharmD Didactic Curriculum and Individualization. Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Assistant Dean for PharmD Didactic Curriculum and Individualization, Faculty Director of the relevant Graduate Certificate, and Senior Director for Student Affairs.
