Eshelman School of Pharmacy: Early Assurance Program Eligibility Requirements

Introduction

Purpose

This document defines the academic, advising, and conduct standards that students must meet to remain in good standing in the Early Assurance Program and successfully transition into the PharmD program. It also establishes the consequences—removal from the program—for failure to meet these requirements.

Scope

This policy applies to all students who have been accepted into and are enrolled in the Early Assurance Program.

Policy

Policy Statement

Students accepted into the Early Assurance Program (EAP) must maintain a set of predetermined standards to remain in good standing in the program:

  • Complete all prerequisite coursework with no grade lower than C- and without repeating the course
  • Earn a minimum cumulative 3.2 GPA by the end of the spring term preceding fall enrollment in PharmD program
  • Meet with a prepharmacy, pre-health, or general academic advisor at least once each semester
  • Before transitioning to the PharmD in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, must earn at least 60 hours of undergraduate credit (2 years of undergraduate study)
  • Attend at least one EAP seminar per semester
  • Submit unofficial transcript to pharmacy_admissions@unc.edu by the end of May while enrolled in the EAP
  • Receive no honor code violations

Failure to maintain the abovementioned criteria will result in removal from the program.
