The UNC-Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry has a legal and ethical responsibility to safeguard patient information. This responsibility includes ensuring that devices storing Protected Health Information ("PHI") or other Sensitive Information are properly encrypted and are serviced by an appropriate vendor. The purpose of this Policy is to ensure that all Computing Devices used by students will meet institutional security requirements.

The purpose of this Policy is to ensure that all Smartphones used by personnel will meet institutional security requirements.

The purpose of this policy is to define minimum security controls for devices in use at the UNC School of Medicine. Individual departments/units may apply stricter controls to protect information and devices in their areas of responsibility. The policy applies to each School of Medicine Constituent for any covered device under their control, including personal devices (“Bring Your Own Device” - “BYOD”).
