Purpose

This policy addresses the requirements for establishing salary compensation for University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ("University") employees who are Exempt from the Human Resources Act (“EHRA”).

Policy Statement

When determining base salaries, salary supplements, overloads, and salary adjustments for EHRA employees, the University must comply with applicable federal and state laws, including Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”) minimum salary requirements and UNC System Office and Board of Trustees policies. To ensure such compliance, University units must work with EHRA Human Resources in the Office of Human Resources to determine the appropriate salary. EHRA Human Resources will follow salary guidelines established by the UNC System Office, and/or the University as appropriate. All salary decisions must comply with the University Policy Statement on Non-Discrimination.
