The University’s new policy management system is scheduled to go live on Thursday, March 29, 2018.

After completing a competitive RFP process last year, the Office of Ethics Education and Policy Management selected PolicyStat, a web-based, policy management application that provides automated workflow for the creation, editing, review and approval of policies, and also serves as a central location for the publication of University policies as required under the University’s Policy on Policies, effective January 7, 2017.

The new system will simplify the process of policy management for responsible parties and streamlines access to a comprehensive repository of policy information.

Our office currently offers training on the University’s new policy framework and has scheduled training on the new policy management system. To register, visit http://policies.unc.edu/training.

Beginning on March 29th, the current link to a limited list of University policies (https://policies.unc.edu/all-policies) will redirect to https://unc.policystat.com/.  If your School, Department or Unit currently links to any policies listed on, please be sure to update your links to those specific policies.

If you have any questions or concerns about a specific policy, please reach out to the responsible officer or department.  If you have any additional questions regarding the transition or PolicyStat, please email our office at policy@unc.edu.

How do I find policies in PolicyStat?

Full-Text Suggest as You Search

A full-text search through PolicyStat’s search bar works like most other Internet searches. The search bar displays the top 5 most relevant results for the search criteria.

Filtered Search

If a full-text search returns too many results or doesn’t match your needs, filtered searching is another option to consider. PolicyStat’s filters narrow searches by Policy Title, Responsible Unit, Issuing Officer, or another Reference/Topic Tag like, who it applies to, a manual, or other topic area.

How do I create new policies in PolicyStat?

You can create a new policy in PolicyStat with either the PolicyStat Editor or by uploading a Word document.

How do I circulate policies for review and approval?

All policies start in a draft format and pend for approval through an Approval Workflow. When the policy completes the Workflow, it becomes active and searchable.
