This document establishes the formal policies and procedures governing academic tenure at UNC-Chapel Hill, covering the conditions under which tenure is granted, the faculty ranks to which it applies, the grounds and processes for suspension, demotion, discharge, nonreappointment, and termination. It also defines faculty rights to hearings, administrative review, and appeals to the Board of Trustees, and affirms protections for academic freedom.
The University is committed to fair and equitable treatment for all employees. Therefore, the University has established this Grievance Policy for the fair, orderly, and prompt resolution of work-related disputes for EHRA Non-Faculty employees. This policy provides for a formal process in order to address allegations that actions taken by management are impermissible under University policies.
