This policy establishes requirements for university-sanctioned scientific diving to ensure compliance with American Academy of Underwater Sciences (AAUS) standards. It provides resources for safe and efficient research diving and enables the University to maintain its OSHA Scientific Exemption. Compliance protects the welfare of faculty, staff, and students and prevents loss of AAUS membership, OSHA exemption, and potential funding or diving privileges.
