Title
Department of Athletics: Policy on Media and Communications Center Videoboard Usage
A. Introduction
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ("University" or "UNC") implemented this Department of Athletics Media and Communications Center Videoboard Usage Policy to establish parameters of use of the screen ("Videoboard") outside of the Department of Athletics Media and Communications Center. The primary purposes of any such usage shall be to advance and provide information about the University's varsity athletic programs, student-athletes, coaches, and events.
B. Displays
Usage of the Videoboard may include displays of still frames, text, live video content, and preprogrammed video content at intervals determined by the Department of Athletics. The Department of Athletics shall also have the responsibility of determining appropriate timing, manner, frequency, and display of such elements to ensure that the Videoboard is used to effectively advance the Department's mission.
C. Content
The Department of Athletics shall program content displayed on the Videoboard to promote the University's varsity athletic programs and those student-athletes, coaches, alumni, and other individuals affiliated therewith. In some cases, content showcasing sponsors or other supporters of the Department of Athletics may also be included at times and in manners deemed appropriate by the Department of Athletics. To ensure consistency in use and availability to help advance the mission of the Department of Athletics, the Videoboard is not available for rent or other use by units or organizations external to the Department of Athletics.
D. Exceptions
Any additional use not described above must be approved in advance by the Director of Athletics. Any such exceptions remain within the discretion of the Department of Athletics and shall not be construed as the right of any person or entity other than the Department of Athletics to control the content of the Videoboard.
