Title
Eshelman School of Pharmacy: PharmD Dual-Degree Eligibility Criteria Policy
Introduction
Purpose
This policy establishes the eligibility criteria PharmD students in the Eshelman School of Pharmacy must meet to apply for a dual-degree program. It also clarifies restrictions on combining dual-degree programs with certificate programs or the Research and Scholarship in Pharmacy program and outlines the process for requesting exceptions.
Scope
This policy applies to Eshelman School of Pharmacy PharmD students who are applying to, or considering applying to, a dual-degree program.
Policy
To be eligible to apply to a dual-degree program, students must meet the following criteria:
- ESOP cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher at the time of application with no history of repeated or remediated courses, other than PHCY 508.
- Successful completion of all prior immersion experiences, including no failed midpoint or final evaluations.
- Must not be on academic or non-academic probation at the time of application.
- Must not have been found in violation of the University Honor Code or Student Code of Conduct.
Students are not permitted to complete both a certificate program and a dual-degree program. Students who begin a certificate program and later apply to and are accepted into a dual-degree program will be required to choose between continuing in the certificate or pursuing the dual-degree.
Students may not complete a dual-degree program in combination with the Research and Scholarship in Pharmacy (RASP) program.
Exceptions
Any request for an exception of the above criteria must be submitted in writing to the Assistant Dean for Individualization. Consideration will be made on a case-by-case basis by the Assistant Dean for Individualization, Assistant Dean for Experiential Programs, and Senior Director for Student Affairs.
