Policy Statement

The University Development Office (UDO) will assist working mothers with the transition back to work following the birth of a child by providing lactation support. A lactation support program allows a nursing mother to express breast milk periodically during the workday.

The UDO shall provide space, privacy, and time for nursing mothers to express breast milk by doing the following:

  • Designated Space – The UDO provides one private space for utilization. These rooms will be unlocked when not in use and have internal privacy lock.
    • Office 232 in their 140 Friday Center Drive Building.

Each room is equipped with a:

  • Mini Fridge
  • Microwave
  • Noise Machine
  • Comfortable Chair
  • Table
  • Paper Towels
  • Disinfectant Wipes
  • Wastebasket
  • Digital Clock
  • Lamp

Time

Managers shall work with nursing mothers to make time available to express milk. UDO does not have a set time schedule for use of the designated lactation rooms, but may implement a reservation schedule, as needed, based on the needs of multiple nursing mothers. Nursing mothers should contact UDO’s human resources staff if there are questions about room availability or a need to establish a reservation schedule.
