Policy

1. Apartment/Room Condition Form

All residents must complete the Apartment/Room Condition Form (A/RCF) at the start of their occupancy to document the room's initial condition. A reminder with instructions and a link to the Housing Portal will be sent upon check-in. A confirmation copy will be emailed after you submit the form.

Residents are responsible for any damages found at move-out unless:

  • The damage was noted on the A/RCF
  • It qualifies as normal wear and tear
  • It was a maintenance issue properly reported during the year

Rooms are inspected when vacated. You're encouraged to be present and to schedule your inspection with your Resident Advisor (RA). If no A/RCF is submitted, it will be assumed that the room was in acceptable condition at move-in. Any applicable damage charges will be billed to your student account.

2. Check-Out

Whether you're moving out at the end of the academic year or due to a contract cancellation, you must complete proper check-out procedures through your Community Office to avoid additional charges.

Failure to check out correctly may result in continued responsibility for housing charges until your departure is officially recorded by residence hall staff.

3. Visitation

Standard visitation is currently in effect for all residence halls. Open room visitation is allowed with roommate consent. The following are not permitted:

  • Unescorted guests inside residential buildings
  • Hosting guest without approval from roommate(s)/suitemate(s)
  • Guest stay exceeding 3 nights per week, 6 nights per month, or 2 weekends per month
  • Non-assigned individuals living in or occupying residence hall rooms
  • Guest sleeping in any area other than their host's assigned room
  • Overcrowded gatherings defined as:
    • More than 3 times the room's occupancy
    • More than 4 times the apartment's occupancy

4. Room Decorating

Painting your room is not allowed. Damage beyond normal wear and tear may result in charges.

5. Unclaimed Property

Any personal property left in student rooms (including bathrooms and common spaces in suites and apartments) such as bicycles, refrigerators, chairs, desks, and televisions left or abandoned by a resident or guest, unless claimed within 30 days shall be deemed the property of the University.

The University may use, dispose of, donate, or sell the personal property after no claim has been made for it within 30 days except for prohibited items which will be removed and disposed of immediately.

Any personal property left in common areas (hallways, laundry rooms, lounges, etc.) may be discarded immediately.

6. Parking

First-year students are generally not permitted to park on campus unless they qualify for an exception. All students and employees must purchase a parking permit from Transportation and Parking, which much be clearly displayed in your vehicle.
