Policy
Academic Year 2025/26
Department committees are renewed each fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) and are tasked with a set of directives established by departmental leadership and faculty. Directives are not intended to be comprehensive; committee chairs and their committees are strongly encouraged to suggest additional action items to the chair and faculty. Committees can be made up of a combination of faculty, staff, students and postdocs, as appropriate. Serving on and/or leading a committee(s) is part of the service commitment required of each faculty member.
Upon consultation with their committees, committee chairs should formulate their plan for the year, including goals, action items and key dates for committee deliverables. The committee chair should advise the Chair by mid-September of the committee plan so that the Chair can schedule at least one committee report-out to faculty during a faculty meeting. Additional requests/deliverables may be asked of the committees throughout the academic year as circumstances dictate.
