To outline Departmental expectations and guidelines for quarterly call schedules.

Scope

Applicable to all ENT faculty in the call schedule pool

Policy

Policy Statement

A. General Requirements

All faculty in the call schedule pool must contribute to the call schedule in a fair manner and must not abuse the use of no call times.

B. Compensation

  1. Call Compensation: Call is part of the base work standards for clinical faculty and will therefore not be paid for outside the compensation plan. Faculty members who are unavailable to accept a call assignment, will not be compensated for the unfilled call assignment. A faculty member who fills in for another faculty member will receive compensation for filling the assignment. Compensation is as follows:
    1. Trauma Weekday - $1,000
    2. Non-Trauma Weekday - $800
    3. Trauma Weekend - $3,000
    4. Non-Trauma Weekend - $2,400
  2. Call Swap Compensation: The department will not compensate for call swaps.
  3. PTO/Vacation/Etc. will be accounted for in Qgenda and will automatically not assign call on those days.

Definitions 

  • Call Schedule - The Departmental scheduling mechanism which shows the availability of eligible faculty members to answer calls and provide services outside of their regular schedule.
  • Call Swap - Exchange of call assignment between providers due to one provider’s unavailability.
  • Eligible Faculty Members - Faculty members under the age of sixty.
  • No Call Time - Period of time a faculty member can designate as a period of unavailability.
