Policy

The Library of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill serves the research and educational needs of UNC-Chapel Hill students and faculty. For purposes of the Adverse Weather policy, the Library is considered non-mandatory. The Library will maintain normal business hours unless the University suspends operations under Condition 2 of the Adverse Weather policy.  For information on University operations during an adverse weather event, the following resources should be used.

Alert Carolina System

Employees and students will receive notifications regarding adverse weather operations via email and text message.

Adverse weather condition levels can be found on:

Radio

Regarding University operations and Chapel Hill buses, tune into Radio Station WNJW, 1610 am, the Travelers Information System. WUNC (91.5 FM) will also broadcast regular announcements regarding any weather-related closings.

Television

Most local television stations will report weather-related closings during severe weather events.
