Introduction

Purpose

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (University) School of Medicine (SOM) is committed to equality of educational opportunity and does not unlawfully discriminate on the basis of disability. In furtherance of this commitment, this Policy requires compliance with the requirements of applicable law and University policies regarding accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

Scope

This Policy and associated Procedure addresses the provision of disability accommodations to Medical Doctorate Program students.

Policy

Policy Statement

The SOM adheres to the University’s policies and applicable federal and state law regarding accommodations for students with disabilities. The SOM partners with the Equal Opportunity and Compliance (EOC) Office to provide reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities, chronic medical conditions, a temporary disability or pregnancy complications resulting in difficulties with accessing learning opportunities. Students who seek reasonable accommodations for a disability must contact EOC. EOC is the only University unit that reviews student requests for accommodations.
